We will be learning about World War 2 in our topic work. Our Science this half term will be electricity. The children will be taking part in Juniour Warrior, The Owlcotes Cup and The Saltaire Cycle Ride.

Reminders
Please make sure your child works hard at home to gain a Mathletics certificate weekly.
 Your child can access Reading Plus at home to boost their reading flency and reading comprehension skills too.

The children had a brilliant day on the Saltaire Cycle.

Heart Dissection

Year 6 dissecting lamb's heart's- allowing them to deepen their understanding and knowledge of how the heart works and the heart's structures.

Tag Rugby

Two teams from year 6 competed in the West Leeds Schools Tag rugby competition with one team coming 2nd and the other coming 5th. Both teams worked incredibly hard and played some great rugby- Well done!!

Rikki Tikki Tavi

Year 6 reenacting scenes from the story Rikki Tikki Tavi! To deepen the children's understanding of the story they chose three key parts of the story and created tableau's for each one.

Making Blood!!

We consolidated our learning on blood by making our very own 'blood in a bottle' The children made sure they included all components- plasma , white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.

Hockey

Year 6 competed in the West Leeds school hockey tournament held at Crawshaw High School. The two teams put in a great performance and all children showed fantastic sportsmanship, team work and demonstrated great skill. They all played with a smile on their face and had a fantastic time.

Explore Learning Day

Year 6 were visited by Explore learning and were set the task of planning, designing and costing the holiday of a life time. They were given a budget and had to work together in small teams to work out where to stay, how to travel and what activities to take part in. Each group then presented their holiday to the rest of the class.

The children started to design and make their own Mayan Headdresses. They learnt about why they wore the headdresses and the patterns and designs they used.

Football

The year 6 footballers took part in a football tournament organised and run by The Bradford City Football Foundation. Both teams were absolutely fantastic- one team finished second and the other finished 3rd. All of the boys played with smiles on their faces and were a real credit to themselves and the school.

Daily Mile

Year 6 have been keeping fit and healthy by taking part in the daily mile. They are pushing themselves to run a little further each day and have taken part in a variety of different challenges all based around the daily mile.

Design Technology Super Learning Day.

Year 6 re-told the story-Where The Wild Things Are to groups of key stage 1 children using the hand puppets that they designed and hand stitched themselves. It was a challenging yet enjoyable day.

Futsal

During focus week 6W got their dancing shoes on and tried their hand at samba dancing and futsal in their P.E lesson. The children had a great time and really threw themselves into it.

6W enjoyed using their map reading skills and code breaking abilities to find out where Wally was.

The children did some art linked to South American street art. The children all created a small piece of a group art.

Robinwood

Year 6 had an absolutely fantastic 3 days at Robinwood, they conquered everything that was thrown their way from flying through the air on the giant zip line, testing their aim at archery, outwitting the deathly piranhas and towering the dizzy heights of the crate challenge to name a few. All of the children showed bravery, teamwork and resilience and were a real credit to themselves and the school. They all had a fantastic time and made memories that will last a life time!!
