Getting Ready For Nursery - 'Ready, Steady, Play'

Ready, Steady, Play are weekly sessions on a Monday and Thursday afternoon (1.00pm-3.00pm) and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (9.00am-11.00am). These sessions are for children who are two and three years old to help prepare them for Nursery. The sessions are led by two experienced EYFS assistant teachers and introduce children to nursery provision, as well as play inside and outdoors with a small group of children. The session includes a snack and parents/carers receive feedback on their child's interests and developing skills. The cost is £6.00 per session for two hours of fun-filled play. To place your child's name on the waiting list for this provision, please contact Sarah Alderson: Tel:0113 2574129

Nursery Open Events 2019-2020

We welcome prospective parents, carers and children to our open events throughout the year. They provide an opportunity to have a look around the nursery learning environments and meet with staff. If you have any questions about nursery places, please e-mail: or telephone the school office: 0113 2574129 PLEASE BE AWARE THAT DUE TO UNPRECEDENTED CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL THE NURSERY OPEN EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY 19TH MARCH IS CANCELLED. Please click the Nursery Open Events document to view the dates for this academic year.

Starting nursery is an exciting time for children, with a chance to meet new friends and a time to have lots of great adventures. We also understand that it is a time of change for children and families and we want to make your child's first few days and weeks at nursery, as smooth as possible.

We have a waiting list for nursery places; you can add your child's name to this list any time after their first birthday. We will need your name, your child's name, date of birth, address, e-mail address and telephone number to register them on our waiting list. When you add your child's name to the waiting list, we will remain in contact with you via e-mail with information about events you may be interested in.
When space is available in nursery, your child can start attending as soon as they become three years old. However, if at the time of your child's third birthday nursery is full, and we are unable to offer you a place straight away, your child's name will remain on the waiting list until space becomes available. This may be in the September after their third birthday.

We offer places to children in date of birth order.  All children can access the Government's free 15 hours Nursery education for three year old children as soon as possible after their third birthday.  Offers of places are subject to availability.

For parents eligible for the 30 hours of government funded nursery education, we are offering a limited number of 30 hour funded nursery places.
If you are eligible to 30 hours of funded nursery education you can:
  • register your interest in a 30 hour place by e-mailing
  • continue to claim 15 hours of free education with us and access 15 hours in another setting.
  • Please see our Nursery admissions policy below for details of how we prioritise offering 30 hour funded places.
The eligibility rules for 30 hours of free nursery education are:
  • Your child must be three, or four years old;
  • Both parents must be working, or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family;
  • Each parent earns, on average, a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at National Minimum Wage, or National Living Wage;
  • Each parent must have an annual income of less than £100,000.
Please use the link below to check your eligibility using the government eligibility calculator:
Offering a Nursery Place:
We will keep you up to date with places available throughout this process and should you have any questions, please do contact us. It is important that we are able to contact you about potential places for your child, and would therefore ask that if you move house, or change your contact telelphone number, that you let us know so that we can amend our records.

Before your child starts Nursery, you will be able to visit us in nursery for free 'Stay and Play' sessions which begin in the Summer term before your child starts nursery in the new academic year (September onwards). After this, your child is able to start attending Nursery on their own. The amount of time they stay on their own on their first day, and the following few days is very flexible. We work alongside parents to plan how this will work, to enable your child to settle into their sessions as smoothly as possible.

We offer open events for prospective parents throughout the school year.  Please see the poster above advertising these events.

If you would like more information about nursery, or have any questions, please email: or telephone the school office on 0113 257 4129.
