Living things and their habitats

As part of our new science topic, we decided it was important to develop our understanding on what makes a living thing. We discussed the things that living things do and need before going to investigate the school grounds for things that were living, no longer alive or had never been alive. The children took photographs and added them to the pages of an E-book. We then spoke about what was the same about all the things that were alive and came up with a list of characteristics that all living things have in common. The children did really well and worked hard to clarify what animals and plants need to survive.

PE. Balance and Positioning

In PE over the last few weeks we have looked at how balanced we are and how we position our body. The children have developed from an unopposed practice into opposed games. In this game children had a red tag handing from their pockets. The mission was to keep the tag away from partners as they looked to snatch it away. The children created their own game space and decided on the size needed and were able to change it whenever they see fit. Using different body positions children had to try to keep the band for as long as possible. The children had lots of fun and took this into a full class invasion game!
