Cannon Hall Farm

We had an amazing time seeing the animals, finding out lots of facts about them, playing on the playground and in the soft play and watching a sheep race!

Cannon Hall Farm
Science

This half term we have been learning about plants. We made a picture using the different components of a flowering plant and labelled each part. We also thought about what each part of the plant does.

Mosaic Making

Today, we helped to make the mosaics for the walls surrounding the underpass. We used tiles and special glue to make the mosaics. We can't wait to show you the parts we helped with when the finished product is on the walls!

Science Super Learning Day

We had an amazing day being scientists today! First, we looked at forces and how different materials affect a car travelling down a ramp. Next, we investigated materials and their properties. We built boats using our adults' junk donations and tested them to see whether they floated or sank. We had a few disappointing sinkings but at least we know to use something waterproof next time! We also looked at trees and leaves and sorted them into deciduous and evergreen after a quick lesson in the playground.

World Book Day

We had a fantastic day dressing up as our favourite book characters. Take a look at our brilliant costumes.

Write Now Focus Week

This week, we based our learning around The Dark by Lemony Snickett. We thought of the things that scare us and wrote our own versions of the story which were then illustrated and turned into books. We also had fun using a comic creator on the Ipads and took selfies showing different emotions. In Maths, we learned how to make tally charts and pictograms about the different fears the children in our class have. We also enjoyed a visit from the Rainbow Factory story tellers- they were brilliant and could not stop saying how good our imaginations are! We made some story dice, wrote some book reviews and performed dance routines.

Sunflowers

We have been learning about Van Gogh and his painting styles. We mixed warm colours to make different shades to paint our sunflowers. We put them altogether to make a class version of Van Gogh's painting.

Snow!

We carried out an experiment with the snow that fell. We predicted which snow would last longest- would it be the classroom, fridge or freezer? We checked the snow throughout the day and looked closely at the changes that were happening.

Design Technology

This half term, we used clay to make our very own Diya lamps for Diwali. We looked at designs and thought about which ones we liked. We used these ideas to design our own lamps then used clay, paint, glittery varnish and sequins to make them We are super proud of our finished products!

Bright Sparks Focus Week (Week 4)

This week, Dr Doom and Professor Gloom tried to steal all of the light! To save it, we thought about how light is used in lots of different celebrations (Diwali, Birthdays, Christmas, Bonfire Night, Eid). We also watched the story of a funny mustached man and thought of our own endings... The video we watched can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7Z1VBQkdIM&t=198s We also made traffic light stained glass windows for Road Safety Week and experimented with colours to make them lighter and darker.

We wrote a non-chronological report as the week went on and produced some amazing writing!
