Starting School in September 2018
Parents/Carers of children who have been allocated a place at Primrose Hill for September 2018 should have received a letter inviting them to a meeting on Thursday 5th July at 6.00pm.  Please contact the school office if you have any questions about this letter, or the meeting.

The meeting will provide parents/carers with the opportunity to meet their child's new teacher, meet the Reception teaching team and have a look around the classrooms.  We will also answer any questions you may have about the transition visits in July.
There will be the opportunity to taste samples from our school lunch menu and of course ask any questions.
We will explain how children start their school journey with us and our expectations for the start and end of the day.
An information pack containing a wealth of information will also be provided at this meeting. Contained in this pack are important forms regarding contact information, medical information and dietary requirements.
Please ensure all forms provided in the welcome packs are completed and returned to school.  This includes information about who you are authorising to collect your child from school.

If you would like to speak to one of the Reception teachers and need to make contact via e-mail, please use the e-mail address below:

Starting school
During your child's time at Nursery, they will learn many of the skills they need to have a successful and enjoyable time during their first school years. As well as learning about numbers, letters and how to use equipment, they also learn about making friendships, sharing and taking turns with resources and how to deal with challenging situations, such as falling out with their friends.
At Pudsey Primrose Hill Nursery, we will support your child in acquiring these skills in a variety of ways, for example by building relationships with their key worker and through supporting their play in the areas of provision.

When it is time for you to apply for your child to go to school, you should receive information from your local council on their specific application requirements. The following information about applications to school is taken from the Leeds City Council website:

By law children must start school from the beginning of the school term after their fifth birthday. In Leeds children normally start school at the beginning of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday.

If a child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, he or she will start primary school in September 2018.
If your child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014 you must apply for a school place between the 1 November 2017 and 15 January 2018.
Your child must be in full time education the term following their fifth birthday.
It is important that you submit your application within these dates.

Please visit the website for further information:

The closing date for applications to primary schools in Bradford is also 15th January 2018. The booklet that is attached below, gives further information to parents who live in Bradford that will be applying to school.

Please be aware that a place a Pudsey Primrose Hill Nursery, does not guarantee a school place at Pudsey Primrose Hill. You must apply for a school place following your local council's procedures.
