Write Now Focus Week - 15.3.13

This focus week in a traditional tale scandal 2 children went missing. Each day KS1 children were given clues leading them to a new suspect. We made missing children posters, WANTED posters, and wrote newspaper articles and letters to the missing children asking them for more clues. We also performed our own news reports to help catch the Big, Bad Wolf. Look at our star pieces of work produced this week. We also had an Illustrator in to work with the children in Y2J. Her name was Kate Pankhurst. The children really enjoyed the monster theme master class and produced some super scary monster illustrations.

World Book Day - 7.3.13

This year for World Book Day we all dressed up as traditional book characters! Can you guess who we are dressed up as? Also as part of World Book Day we all took part in a DEAR session (Drop Everything And Read). At 11.45 the whole school stopped what they were doing to read for 15 minutes. In Y2J some of us were reading traditional stories on the Oxford Owl website.

28.1.13 Exploration Focus Week

This week Y2J have travelled in time and visited lots of interesting periods through history. On the first day we travelled way back to the beginning of the universe. We learnt about the wonders of the solar system. On the second day we travelled back in time to the dinosaur era. We had lots of fun learning about the different dinosaurs and how big they were. We found out that a T-Rex was almost the length of our classroom. We also made a lovely display of different dinosaurs and fossils. On the third day we travelled to the Ice Age. We learnt about Ice Age mammals such as the woolly mammoth. Day four took us the Stone Age where we learnt what it was like to live during the Stone Age. We learnt about what they ate, what they wore, and the tools they used and how they survived. We also made some incredible cave paintings. On the fifth day we travelled to the future. We looked at how technology had changed over the past 10 years and then thought about what technology might be like in the future.
