Robinwood

Year 6 have had a fantastic 3 days at Robinwood Activity Centre. They have been pushed to the limit and have stepped outside of their comfort zone. They have defeated the deadly piranhas in the 'piranha pool' scaled the dizzy heights of the giant swing and the trapeze tower and have worked tirelessly to complete any task and activity thrown their way. The children have been a credit to the school and have shown real camaraderie, effort and determination.

E Safety Day

E-Safety expert Trevor Harris came in to talk to the children about staying safe online. He spoke to both Key Stages in assembly about keeping personal information private and most importantly BEING NICE ONLINE. The KS2 children wrote positive messages to each other in classes, and thought about how saying cruel things to each other on the internet can affect others and themselves. We don't want to be having problems getting a job later in life when employers or universities find horrible things we said online when we were children!

Year 5's Fairtrade visit to Priesthorpe

On Tuesday morning, all Year 5 children visited Priesthorpe High School along with the Year 5 children from Calverley Parkside. This was part of a project linked to the Global Learning Programme. Children worked in five different groups and took part in two sessions run by teachers from Priesthorpe. The theme of the project was Fairtrade. Therefore, all of the activities the children took part in were linked to the resource ‘From Bean to Bar’. The five groups explored the resource through Drama, Literacy, Art, RE and Geography. The morning provided the children with the opportunity to broaden their understanding of how Fairtrade can support farmers, from a range of curricular perspectives, as well gaining the experience of working with a range of teachers. Thank you to Priesthorpe for hosting the morning.

Year 6 Handy Work Science Blast

We predicted that when the white powder (bicarbonate soda) was put into the glass jar, there would be a chemical reaction when it met the vinegar. The chemical reaction will cause the glove, which was put on the jar, to inflate. This means that the chemical reaction created a gas. In addition to this when there was more bicarbonate soda added the glove increasingly got larger in size. Written by Year 6 Professors

School Council LGI Christmas Card Appeal

The School Council of Pudsey Primrose Hill Primary School have been involved in a project to raise money for children in the LGI this Christmas period. Instead of children sending Christmas Cards in School they have been given the option to bring in a donation and write a Christmas message on one of the School Council Christmas poster boards. The school raised a magnificent £420.00 through this appeal and are purchasing computer games and selection boxes for the Children in the Leeds General Infirmary. Some members of the School Council, who were randomly selected, delivered the presents to the Children’s Ward and met Mr Ted (the Hospital mascot) on Thursday 18th December at 1.30pm Mrs West, the Headteacher of Primrose Hill stated, 'Our School Council have done a great job of promoting this appeal, which has been led by children for children. I am delighted that the children and families at our school have been so enthusiastic and generous about donating to the Leeds Children's Hospital, and I hope that the funds raised help to make a difference to those children who are in hospital over the Christmas period.'
