Write Now Focus Week

Into the Forest story, dance and drama based on the story.

24-1-14 Write Now Focus Week

The book 'Into the Forest' has been inspiring our learning this week. We have created a huge class piece of art to tell the story. We have also shown the story through dance and drama. In the book the boy gets woken up by a storm - read our poems about a storm we did after creating a class poem using percussion instruments. The children are really proud of their own version of the story that they have written after creating their own story maps with coordinates. We based them on Into the Forest after learning it word for word! Remember your homework is to tell the story to someone at home; use the video of us to help.

It's been a bazaar week this week! We have been practicing lots for the Christmas show. In Science we have learnt about how light reacts when reflecting off different materials. On Thursday it was the windy day so we wrote some news reports and recorded them outside like real reporters. It was very funny! This week we Skyped America! We spoke to some children about their school and their recent Thanksgiving celebrations. We even gave them a quick song from our Christmas show! We can't wait to speak to them again. Today we paid tribute to Nelson Mandela and we were all very touched by the story of his life. What a truly wonderful man.

Apprentice Focus Week

What an enjoyable and hard working week we have all had! The week focussed on Maths to begin with, where we learnt about money and how to give change. We are lucky enough to have a visitor in to talk about how he used Maths in his job - a sports statistician. It was so interesting to hear him talking about how Maths is used in analysing football matches and other sports. On Wednesday we took part in the Maths roadshow, tackling tricky maths problems. From then on the rest of the week we were making our products to sell at the Big Sell. The children also did some amazing adverts and posters to advertised our products too. Fingers crossed we made the most profit!
