Under the sea

As part of our 'Our World' topic, we are learning about creatures that live under the sea. Inspired by children drawing sea creatures, we have decided to make some of our own. Keep an eye out in Nursery, for when they start to appear! So far, we have made some jellyfish and crabs, as well as played an 'under the sea' game.

Tropical World!

We had a fantastic trip to Tropical World in July. Before we went on our journey, we talked about butterflies and had a go at making some ourselves. Have a look at the photographs from inside Tropical World to see if you can spot any butterflies. Which other animals can you see?

Be Healthy, Stay Safe focus week

During focus week we learnt all about being healthy and staying safe. On Monday we talked about having a healthy day, by doing lots of different activities and getting lots of rest. We also made 'healthy plates', finding out how it is important to eat lots of different types of food. You can see our 'healthy plates' on display in the Nursery snack area. Later in the week we talked about how to cross the road safely and even had a go on the zebra crossing in the play ground. We also all completed the 'throwing the ball at a target' challenge.

We had great fun dressing up as Superheroes for the day. We found out about lots of different real superhero people, who help others for their job. We also enjoyed looking at the pretend Superhero characters. Have a look at us dressed up. Can you guess which superheroes we are dressed up as?

Easter Egg Hunt

During 'In the News' focus week, we had a special delivery - a letter from the Easter bunny! He had hidden some eggs in our garden and asked us to find them. Mrs Holdsworth helped us to search for the eggs and then interviewed us about what we had been doing. We also wrote some reports about our egg hunt.

Nursery Book Day

What a wonderful day we had celebrating our Story tellers topic! The children looked fabulous in their costumes and they thoroughly enjoyed showing them off to their friends. A huge thank you to the parents who came in to read to us - the children (and staff!) really enjoyed having you here.

Nature Detectives

We have been very busy investigating and helping the animals in our Nursery garden. One of the things we have been doing is including making a bug house for minibeasts to sheter in outside, by collecting natural resources. We have also been learning about hedgehogs, making a large one with handprints, making hedghogs from clay and even hibernating our own hedgehog 'Chester'! I wonder when he will wake up?

Gingerbread Men

We have been making gingerbread men in nursery, after looking through the recipe book for something delicious to bake. Here is the recipe so that you can try it at home. Don't forget to wash your hands before you start and ask an adult to help you, to keep you safe when you're cooking.

Bee-bots.

We have been exploring the Bee-bots here in Nursery. We chose direction cards and then put them in the order we would like the Bee-bot to go. With some help, we programmed the Bee-bot to do the actions we had chosen, pressed go and away he went!

The Stick Man

After visiting Pudsey Park earlier this week, some children noticed how the sticks collected from the park were like those from the Stick Man story. Perhaps you would like to read the story at home.

Write Now Focus Week

We had great fun in Write Now Focus Week. We read lots of fairy tales and did lots of learning about them. We also looked at the book 'Into the forest' and did some learning about the weather after noticing the lightening at the start of the story.

We have been reading 'Pirates Love Underpants' by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. As well as this, some children have been making pretend sandwiches in the dough area. Independent Thinking Days

We have been settling back into our routine here in Nursery and some of the new children have been learning all about how to use our wonderful resources. The children have been learning how to choose activities independently and to 'keep on trying' if they find something tricky. These pictures show some of the things that the children have been enjoying.
